Match #4
Tuesday, October 13th
Tuesday, October 13th
- Early on, Matty raised in Early Position (EP) to 100 (10BB) and I reraised to 350 with my K-K and everyone folded (Steve claimed he had 4-4 and Adrian claimed he had 9-9).
-
I busted some guy in 9th place (who held JsJc) when my AxQc took him down on a flop (AcKc8c).
-
With the blinds 30-60, John Shaffer raised in EP to 180, Steve reraised to 420, and John called. Flop comes A-K-Q. John checks, Steve bets 800+ (or so), John raises all-in for another 300, Steve calls. John shows Q-Q for trips & Steve shows A-K for 2-Pair. The turn brought a 4th Q and John doubled up through his son.
-
With the blinds 50-100, Adrian got unlucky, because the guy who showed garbage hands for the first 5 levels raised to 300 in EP with an actual hand and when Adrian shoved with his KJs, other guy showed AJ and knocked Adrian out in 7th place.
-
Steve's shoves all-in (with A10) pre-flop and is called by Adrian's Nemesis (with A2). Steve's hand holds and Adrian's nemesis is short again.
-
With the blinds 75-150, I raised in EP with Q-Q to 450 and Steve shoved for another 400 (or so) with A-K. My Queens held up and Steve went out in 6th (losing twice AK vs QQ - ouch!).
-
Adrian's nemesis goes out to Matty (I don't remember the details), and we're down to 4 players (John, Matty W, Me, and Josh Thomas - who played a very quiet, solid game).
-
With the blinds 100-200, John limps on my BB for 200 and Matty W shoves for 1500-ish with AQo. Josh and I fold, and John calls with Jh9h. Board comes AhKh8x-Qh-Xx and Matty is eliminated on the Bubble after being completely card-dead and showed some good patience until he exited in 4th.
-
Once we were in the money, John had about 7K in chips. Then, I got hot and picked up 7 pots out of 8 and took a nice lead.
-
When the blinds were 150-300, Josh raised to 600 on the Button with KK, I reraised to 2700 with AK, John folded and Josh called. I flopped an Ace sending Josh out in 3rd. And we had a Heads-Up rematch of Absolute Grove (Match #2).
-
After a few failed bluffs on my part, John had a 2-to-1 chip advantage. With the blinds 150-300, John raised to 600 with A4s, I shoved with A10o, and John called. My A10 held up and the stacks were reversed. John was playing well and making good reads...until that hand. A few hands later, I don't really remember the details, I took it down.
